Regrowth after cutting
The Paulownia has extremely fast growth; the plantations can be felled at 5 years. It then regrows from the pre-existing roots, which allows them to be harvested 5 or 6 times, earning it the name of the Phoenix tree. Regeneration after cutting is of rapid development, being the fastest-growing tree on earth. In 8 years a seed will reach the same size as an oak in 40 years. In one year the Paulownia can grow more than four and a half metres tall or even more; it lives more than 100 years, reaching 200–250.
