Orange Biscuits

Orange Biscuits

Ingredients for 4 people

  • The zest of 2 oranges and the juice of one.
  • 3 tablespoons of liquid honey.
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon.
  • 6 tablespoons of butter.
  • 175 grams of flour.
  • 100 grams of melted white chocolate.
  • Candied fruit.
  • Coloured sugar pieces for decoration.
  • Silver balls.

Preparation

Heat half of the orange zest and juice with the honey and the cinnamon, until they are completely combined. Remove from the heat and mix in the butter. When it has melted, add the flour and form a ball with the dough. Let it cool and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Grease two small trays, divide the flour dough and roll out half to a thickness of about 3 mm. Cut the dough with small moulds of different shapes to make the biscuits in the shape of hearts, flowers and squares. If it is Christmas time, you can make stars and Christmas trees. Transfer the biscuits to the trays. If you want to hang the biscuits on the Christmas tree, do not forget to make a hole in the top of each one. Prick them and let them cool in the fridge for 30 minutes before putting them in the oven, at 250 degrees, for 5 to 15 minutes.
Mix the peel of the other orange with the melted chocolate. Cover the cold biscuits with a layer of chocolate and decorate them with pieces of candied fruit, coloured strips or silver balls, before the chocolate hardens. Thread some strings through the holes if you want to hang the biscuits on the Christmas tree, wrapping them in cling film if they are going to remain hanging for many hours.
