Soil fixation, preventing erosion

The Paulownia has the ability to recover ecologically stressed areas. Its root system penetrates deeply and rapidly into compacted and contaminated soils. The Paulownia is a phytoremediator, increasing the organic content of degraded soils, processing and filtering pollutants as solutions rise through its vascular system and emitting oxygen into the atmosphere. It tolerates pollution and does not require fertile soils; for this reason it works ecologically as a pioneer plant. Its nitrogen-rich leaves provide good fertilisation and its roots prevent soil erosion.
